Haven't worked on this quilt much this week, just a couple of evenings worth. Got all of the wedge blocks done and I'm in the process of getting the 4-patch blocks done. I've been scrounging around for ANY fabric that will go with this quilt and I'm still short about 20 blocks. Don't know what I'm going to do about that yet because I really don't want to buy more fabric just to do those!! Need to make another pass through my stash and maybe even look in my scrap basket. I've never done a batik quilt before so I have almost nothing.
We closed this week on the rental house that I bought and will get the keys today! :) I need to get an electrician out first thing and replace the old electric panel. That's the only major repair to be done and then it can be rented out.

Didn't get it done
Why is it that it takes so much longer to do things than I think they will? Wishful thinking! I did get the third row of blocks sewn together and the strip of blocks on one side. I then decided to do the ends of each row now instead of waiting to do the two rounds of blocks after it's sewn together. There's no reason to wait and then wrestle with the whole quilt.
I really like how the sides look! There is a final row of black-on-black batik 4-patch blocks on the 4 sides.
I am half done with the 28 wedge blocks that round out the circles and 12 of the brown 4-patch are done, another 51 to go, and the strips are all sewn and pressed to be cut into sections.
I've been thinking of how to quilt it and I think an all-over pattern is fine. It's way too much for me to try and quilt it in some way around all those pieces and the pattern is so intricate that it stands on it's own without needing elaborate quilting to enhance it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)

You know what I'm doing this weekend
Well, sewing of course but maybe even finishing this quilt top!
I started sewing one of the blocks together last night and got the 10 all dark 4-patch blocks done for the two strips that go between the rows. The only blocks left to do are some of the triangles for the two strips!

Wall Hanging Design
This is a design I did using Brannock and Patek Remembrance fabric. I got the Town & Country add-on for EQ7 and this is one of the houses, the rest is my own design using fat quarters. I made it 74 x 74 but it would be nice for a smaller wall hanging. In EQ7 you can re-size a design.
I'm never going to be able to make all the designs I do but sometimes things come together and strike me as something I want to do. I like this one. :-)
Ooops... I just saw that I need to add more posts on the fence.

STILL working on Flying Geese!
Will this ever end?!? Got 10 more flying geese done this morning then layed everything out to figure up exactly how much more I need to do.
What's left to do is...
19 Triangles
12 Flying Geese
10 Center Blocks
10 4-Patch
That's just for the body of the quilt, not counting the 14 wedge blocks that round out the circles, the 55 brown 4-patch and the 80 black 4-patch blocks for the borders.
I have the strips for the 4-patch blocks ready, some are sewn together to cut into sections. I think it's going to take a couple more weeks to get this done even if I work pretty steady on it.
I'm not going to beat myself up over it or feel guilty about working on something else sometimes. It's not a marathon and don't have anyone to please other than myself. Daughter's birthday is in June... :-)

Even More Houses
Worked on this last night and this morning. It was kind of hard! Not technically hard but trying to decide what to put where.
I'm sure that I'll contiue to play with it but I like it overall. :-) Things need to be changed like the two trees and the Scottie dog are in the same fabrics so it looks a little clumped together there. Maybe take out one of the trees and add another pieced block

Houses design
I played around with a design for the house BOM this evening. Of course, I don't know what the houses will be each month. It could be any building, a school, a lighthouse, bird houses, etc. Since I chose romantic type fabrics I'm trying to create a design that goes with that look. I think I will be re-doing the church block. I have a 40 FQ set of Luna Notte that I was considering using but then I used the other sets I had. I like the colors and design of the fabrics better. Plus, I will probably end up really scrounging to make this out of the original fabrics.
This design uses the Luna Notte fabrics imported into EQ7. It's only a 50"x50" custom setting so it will need to be enlarged to be able to use twelve 12" (or so) blocks.

The same design in batiks
I just love EQ7! Maybe you can tell that by now. :-) What a difference a change in fabric makes. I did two batik designs and they look so different. I REALLY like these.
The second one would be very simple to make with fewer fabrics and a lot of shortcuts that can be done. Sew two whole jelly roll strips together and cut into sections for the sashing, the corner stones, even the entire center blocks and then just sewing a long strip on either end to complete the outer square.

A Simple Design
I was playing with designs today for the red and beige jelly rolls that I have. There are 10 different red and 10 beiges. I want something simple after the last two quilts. I'm really about done with doing intricate patterns for awhile!
This isn't a design that I remember seeing before but it's very simple so I wouldn't be surprised if it's been done. I've seen many red and white quilts, a classic, that are simple designs but they are very beautiful and effective.

This is what I did at first but this is supposed to be quick and simple!
Then I did this one and I like it more than the previous one.
My favorite if I wanted to do that much work.
This has the starts only in the light areas. They get a little lost in the overall design.
