Why is it that it takes so much longer to do things than I think they will? Wishful thinking! I did get the third row of blocks sewn together and the strip of blocks on one side. I then decided to do the ends of each row now instead of waiting to do the two rounds of blocks after it's sewn together. There's no reason to wait and then wrestle with the whole quilt.
I really like how the sides look! There is a final row of black-on-black batik 4-patch blocks on the 4 sides.
I am half done with the 28 wedge blocks that round out the circles and 12 of the brown 4-patch are done, another 51 to go, and the strips are all sewn and pressed to be cut into sections.
I've been thinking of how to quilt it and I think an all-over pattern is fine. It's way too much for me to try and quilt it in some way around all those pieces and the pattern is so intricate that it stands on it's own without needing elaborate quilting to enhance it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)
Just like my husband... It took me years to figure out a project always takes longer than he first tells me. Ah, but I have calmed with age a bit.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really lovely. Especially, when I clicked to see the biggie :)
