The second one would be very simple to make with fewer fabrics and a lot of shortcuts that can be done. Sew two whole jelly roll strips together and cut into sections for the sashing, the corner stones, even the entire center blocks and then just sewing a long strip on either end to complete the outer square.

The same design in batiks
I just love EQ7! Maybe you can tell that by now. :-) What a difference a change in fabric makes. I did two batik designs and they look so different. I REALLY like these.
