Wall Hanging Design
This is a design I did using Brannock and Patek Remembrance fabric. I got the Town & Country add-on for EQ7 and this is one of the houses, the rest is my own design using fat quarters. I made it 74 x 74 but it would be nice for a smaller wall hanging. In EQ7 you can re-size a design.
I'm never going to be able to make all the designs I do but sometimes things come together and strike me as something I want to do. I like this one. :-)

ReplyDeleteDoes the fabric always have to be cotton? I am using cotton now because it is what comes with the BOMs I purchased, but for just starting to sew this past autumn, my remnant collection is growing.
Do you know of any sites that have somewhat easy quilting patterns? The part you quilt together your top, batting and back. I am not googling the right words or something. I am getting whole quilt patterns. I would like to so something nicer than just straight lines through the whole thing. But something not too complicated for a beginner.
I am not sure it should be done this way, but I will probably hand quilt the center area, as I cannot get it all under my machine. Then I will machine quilt the rest, if I am able.
I still have a ways to go with the top. I just finished my 9th block. Oh, that applique was painful! But it is out of the way.

No, it doesn't always have to be cotton. There are crazy quilts made with satin and velvet and lace. I'd make sure that it's not stretchy, that I pre-washed it so that different fabrics don't shrink differently. Not too heavy to work with and that it's pleasant to the touch. You can try anything you like and see how it works.

I've read of people doing hand quilting and machine quilting on the same quilt. Nothing wrong with doing that at all.
Yep, applique can be very painful to do! I don't do it that much, more of just an accept to pieced quilts or a center piece.

ReplyDeleteI learned a handy thing yesterday. Finger pressing. I was skimming through a quilting book and found this. It was so convenient as I was doing a log cabin block.
